The Inspiration Behind the Team – The Journey of Nate Cheetham

Legend!!
Legend!!

At Satori Jujitsu, we are building something special. Our athletes train side by side, pushing each other, supporting each other, and proving that with the right mindset and hard work, incredible things can happen. This year, four of our team will step onto the European stage representing Wales Jujitsu and Great Britain Jujitsu—a huge milestone for our academy and our community.

The inspiration behind this journey is Nate Cheetham. Without Nate’s example, many of his teammates might not be competing at the European Championships. His commitment and passion have lit the path for others to follow, showing exactly what can be achieved when you dedicate yourself fully to this sport.

Nate has represented Satori, Wales, and Great Britain at multiple international events, cementing himself as one of the top prospects in the country. He has been officially ranked in the JJIF world rankings for several years, climbing as high as the top 25 in the world. That level of achievement doesn’t come easily—it comes from the same traits Nate shows every single day: hard work, discipline, humility, and a relentless hunger to improve.

At this year’s European Championships, Nate will compete in the -62kg Fighting Jujitsu category, a stacked division with 19 world-class athletes all chasing the European crown. But if there’s one thing Nate has proven time and again, it’s that he never backs down from a challenge. He has tested himself at every level, sought out the toughest competition, and grown stronger each time.

Nate is everything you want in a competitor: hardworking, coachable, focused, and fuelled by an amazing attitude. But beyond that, he is a true Jitsuka—someone who represents the sport with honour, respect, and kindness. He lives and breathes Jujitsu, so much so that he has made it his career, dedicating his life to chasing excellence and inspiring others.

Though still in his early 20s, Nate commands the respect of someone who has “done it all.” In Jujitsu, respect is earned not by age but by what you bring to the mats, and Nate brings everything—every session, every round, every fight. He has already inspired the next generation at Satori, who look up to him not just as a competitor but as a role model.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Peter Lynn and Partners for their generous donation towards our journey. Their support has helped make it possible for our athletes to travel to Belgium and represent their club, country, and Great Britain on the European stage.

Nate—we love you, the team loves you, and we are proud to stand by your side. Belgium is going to be one hell of a ride, and we know you’ll step onto those mats ready to give everything. With your talent, focus, and drive, we believe you have what it takes to go all the way—and when you return, you’ll continue to inspire and guide the young team who already look up to you with admiration.

From Satori Jujitsu Member, to Welsh Jits Sgwad, to GB Athlete ranked among the best in the world—this is just one more step towards your dream of becoming world champion. And we’ll be with you all the way.
